CO2 issue largely concluded

Volkswagen has checked and controlled until the irregularities in CO2 levels seemingly vanished into thin air. In a press release dated 09.12.2015, Volkswagen claims that almost all of the model variants which previously had been reported as manipulated do correspond to the CO2 figures originally determined:

„The suspicion that the fuel consumption figures of current production vehicles had been unlawfully changed was not confirmed.“

Volkswagen gives no insight into the nature of the manipulations carried out and no justification why the threshold for illegality has not been exceeded. One month earlier, Matthias Müller did promise “Relentless and comprehensive clarification”. In december, nothing is clear at all.

There is no doubt that Volkswagen is expert in exploiting any legal trick to manipulate the fuel consumption figures. The report „Mind the Gap! Why official car fuel economy figures don’t match up to reality“ from 2013 explains some outrageous Manipulations which are considered „legal“.

In November, expert Manipulator Volkswagen was without any doubt convinced of the illegality of its Manipulations – and in December the issue vanishes?

Even if this strange Storyline was true, and all its Manipulations had been legal, VW should have explained its Manipulations and how they fit to Volkswagens environmental goals.
